Will the MLB expand to two more teams in the American League in the future?

There are two more spots available in the AL to make it the same number of teams as the NL. Does anyone have information on this? I think good potential MLB cities will be Indianopolis (they are building a massive retractable roof stadium now) and Vancouver, BC (they have BC Stadium). Other cities for mention include Portland and Sacramento.

I highly doubt that MLB will expand the AL by two additional teams. A couple years ago, Selig was determined to eliminate two teams (Expos/Nationals and the Twins). Plus, MLB should only expand when competitive balance has been achieved. The pirates have not been competitive for some 15 years (with one more loss they will tie the mlb record for consecutive losing seasons). So, it wouldnt really make sense for the MLB to expand because the talent level will drop significantly with every team that is expanded. Imagine how many HR Alex Rodriguez would hit against Triple A pitchers.

never the pitching is bad enoughas it is you have 2 more teams that is 50 players that should be in the minors

yes please do I still don't understand why the NL central has 6 teams in it.

San Antonio TX will be a good city also. Indy stadium is probably just built for football it's probably not going to be a multiplex stadium

htere is a possibility but not for a couple more years and Indy was one of the cites they are interested in…and so is Oklahoma City but that would leave one divsion with 6 teams… when that happens watch for them to realign and have four team in division with 4 divisions in each league and no more wild card but that could be at least 10 years away…ansd there would have to be a new agreement

Yes, Indianapolis wouldn't be too bad, and neither would San Antonio. However, I would like to see a MLB team in Las Vegas (they could be called the Blue Sox). Now that would be cool!

Not anytime soon, and it'll probably be accompanied by realignment, so while there will be two new teams they won't necessarily be in the AL, but each league will wind up with 16 franchises.

i also think that las vegas could be a big factor and indianapolis is probably the other way to go

    No.

If anything they need to contract 2 teams
(both FL teams) and put Milwaukee back in the AL (where it belongs).
