What would happen if a good MLB player only wanted $100k a year for a contract?

Suppose a good MLB player’s contract expired, and it was time to negotiate a new contract with a certain baseball team. He decided he only wanted 0,000 a year for pay, and refused to accept more than that. Every team in MLB would probably want him. Would he then be able to just pick whatever team he wants to play for, and sign a contract with them?

I honestly don’t know. I think that every team would think he is joking. Minor League players make anywhere from 40-80 thousand depending on how well you perform and if you are AA or AAA and if you are important to the organization. I don’t think any major league player would play for that unless they were maybe a rookie. Hope I helped

    Answer my question please??

first, noone could sign him because the mlb minimum is 400,000 a year.
second, the players association would go into a riot and maybe kill that player.
but yeah if he only wanted 400k a year and was decent any team would want him and he would have his choice.
but the players association would still near riot over his decision.

i am sure there are a lot of teams that would love to lower there payroll to that but there are also a lot of factors that would be involved in getting the player also.

Sorry, this has nothing do with your question, but I saw on one of your answers that you’re from Kokomo, Indiana! Woah! I’m from Greentown! Small world!

the minimum is 400K which is one of the reasons small market teams like the Pirates, Reds etc are having a hard time-and ticket prices are too high-baseball has got to cut back it’s salaries-or more and more teams will fold. As to the 100k-if the player were a free agent he can sign with any team he wants that offers him a contract.

You’re living in a fantasy world, little girl. The supposition is so far from reality, it’s beyond answering.

If a player is a free agent he can sign anywhere he chooses for whatever salary he can get. There is no maximum other han what a team is willing to pay. The minimum is $400,000. So change your example to $400,000 and the answer is yes, he could…
