How would you break into the MLB as a umpire?

I was just wondering on the average age that a umpire breaks into the MLB and what kind of work would you need to do.

Attend either of the 2 authorized schools (Wendelstedt or Evans), do well then progress to the Development camp in Cocoa Beach, then get to a short season (GCL, AZL, Pioneer, Appy, NY-Penn or NWL) then get up the ladder.

AVergae MLB umpire has double digit career lengths and usually get first looks at the MLB in their mid-30's.

You can't just "break into the MLB as a umpire." There are, I believe, 2 schools you can go to for umping. They are both in Florida, I think. There are limited spots at the school. Those who finish at the top of the class then have a chance to get in to umpiring. You must work your way through Class "A" ball. I believe there are 70 full-time MLB umps. The average MLB ump has been working games for 8 years. The percentage of guys who make it to "the bigs" is very small. But, hey, you have as much chance as the next guy.

It depands on the age and how long he been doing it or her.

If you start young you could maybe get in mid 30's if lucky
